Public EU consultation on the revision of the directive on harmonised river information services (RIS)

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport DG MOVE is currently working on an impact assessment for the revision of the directive 2005/44/EC on harmonised river information services (RIS).

The directive defines the general obligation of Member States to ensure the development and implementation of RIS in an efficient, expandable and interoperable way.

The initiative to revise the directive is tied-in with key objectives of current European Union policy. Digital technologies and digitalisation in general are seen as critical enabler for achieving the sustainability goals of the “European Green Deal” in many sectors, including inland waterway transport.

By carrying out this survey DG MOVE wants to better understand how the framework of the directive plays out in the everyday life of the sector.

All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation by filling in an online questionnaire. Therefore, you will need to register or login using your existing social media account.

The consultation is open until 22 November 2022.
